Welcome to the South West Region of the Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain organisation.

There is a wealth of horse breeding and producing in the South West geographical area of Great Britain, covering Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and this region of the society seeks to bring this to the fore.

The brainchild of Charles Upham, who invites everyone, South West residents and horse enthusiasts from further afield, breeders, owners, riders, producers and those keen to have a go, gather information or simply spectate, to come along, enter our events, shows and clinics and have a jolly day.

We promote showing in-hand and ridden sport horses, hunters, riding horses, hacks, cobs and celebrate the joy of breeding and competing horses to go on and event, show jump and pleasure ride.

Established 2019, this regional society is fun, approachable, inclusive and celebratory.

Glad to be back Showing and Training horses again in the South West of England after the 2020 enforced break due to the Covid pandemic.

We are staging our Spring 2021 Show and Clinic at Bicton Arena (www.bicton-arena.co.uk) on Saturday 8th May 2021.

Acclaimed Showing Supremo and reigning HOYS Champion Jayne Ross is back by popular demand and kindly delivering a Clinic for pre-booked participants keen to glean tips in the morning of 8^th May 2021 at Bicton.

Ahead of this, we are holding a showing training Clinic on Friday 23rd April 2021 at West Wilts Equestrian Centre where our friend Vincent Seddon and his team will be holding that weekend the Wiltshire Show (www.wiltshireshow.co.uk).

We are thrilled that Cindy Sims will be coach at our clinic on Friday 23rd April at West Wilts, so you could get some tips and practice in the day before the Wiltshire Show weekend, revise existing horse and rider partnerships or bring out your new combination.

Lucinda (Cindy) Sims is an International three day event rider and FEI judge who has also produced top class show horses from lead- rein ponies to Champion Retrained Racehorses. As a granddaughter of the redoubtable Betty Skelton and daughter of Jinks Bryer, she has ridden sidesaddle since a child and is one of the most elegant proponents of this art. As a coach, Cindy brings out the best in her pupils with her kindly manner and eloquent skill to help them achieve their own success.
